Hmmm... I think some gradient work would have been nice, but if you did this in
photoshop, then it would've been hard, ne? Also, I find it kinda odd that you
decided to blur the text-edges when everything else is so hard-edged. I think I
like this in small form a little more than in fullsize, actually... ^^;
I actually don't find the materia to be all that out of place, once you realize
that they're materia, anyway. Very interesting piece for a first grunge, and
very excellently done. I will agree with the others insofar as the gray corner
and the self-done part of Hojo's profile are concerned. Other than that... excellent technical skill, considering the
fact that you were simply experimenting with the idea of grunge. Nice use of
brushes, not too much, not too little, and the text in the background is
perfect--not overpowering, but with a lot of punch.
Artistic: Loneliness mixed with violence mixed with loveliness. It feels like
Hojo is being swallowed up by all his science, which I suppose is what you meant
by the "Reunion of Mind and Unsoul." You've given Hojo a human side I
didn't know he could have. Love it.
Excellent work, Ge. Just going back and forth between this and you're first
entry ever, it's incredible just how much you're sense of how to use your tools
has improved. The edit of the two vectors is admirable, and the simple execution
is very good. I'd agree with kuroimisa in that it really seems a bit too dark at
the left, though I appreciate the simple effect that that lends to the rest of
the wallpaper.
Artistry: The use of black and red is an excellent motif throughout your Antagony series, and the monochromatism is
lovely. The simple moon, contrasted with the extremely complex text, creates an
excellent image. The feeling of "Antagony" is perfectly conveyed
through the agreement of color, style, and low light.
I'm not entirely sure what a virtually invisible Spike has to do with anything,
but nice technical skill working him in so naturally. When
I first saw him, I thought he was just gradations in Vicious's clothes colors...
and the incorporation of the outline of Vicious's coat and Spike's hair into one
thing is a nice touch.
I actually haven't watched it yet, .
Waiting for the DVD.
Welcome back, Sindizzy! Been a long time--and your wallpapers were definitely
missed. Beautifully done as always, you just have an excellent eye for how to
incorporate brushes and effects. Incredible. I don't know what else to say.
Excellent work, Bren. The... eye on the bird looks kinda small, but other than
that... if you were going for vector style, this is perfectly executed. ^_^
Very nice work with the background... I like the little er... surge thingies,
whatever you'd call them... especially. Nice work with the astral portion as
well. You really do make very nice scenic backgrounds. The characters you put on
them, I'm typically not fans of, but... hahaha.
Oh well. It's an excellent piece. Good work!
In terms of pure aesthetics, I'm going to have to agree with dream, insofar as
the fact that I just don't think the kind of grunge popular in Minitokyo works
well on top of Amano scans. That said, this is of course another very nice
wallpaper.
As for what you're saying, charaznableamurorei... can I call you something
shorter? I have to agree on some level. Personally, I prefer to make wallpapers that
have a some kind of personal meaning, and I know my brother always does just
that. If you think about it, it's a form of allusion to incorporate another's
art into your own digital medium, and good art isn't much different from good
literature. A good allusion--especially one that forms a centerpiece for the
work--can enhance a piece ten thousand fold.
As to the wall itself: There's some interesting contrasts going on here--first
you've got the subject of the wallpaper, which in some manner embodies
innocence... then you've got Amano's unique art style giving life to the
subject. And finally, you have the darkness and grunge that you've injected into
it. I could go on a huge tirade here, but I think I'll spare everybody who wants
to post later the pain of seeing that. >>;
Anyway, though not exactly pleasing to the eyes, it does rather please the mind.
Good work.
I'm not sure if I can agree that it's cute, but it sure is interesting to look
at! Very unusual contrast between the two pieces, but unusual is always good, in
my book.
I'm really glad that I'm on your friendslist, I had no idea what I was missing!
Very nice job. Pure black and white is always a nice way of getting people's
attention, and that's what a book cover is supposed to do, right? Haha. Nice job
blencing attention-grabbing and art, that can be really difficult. Love the simplicity.
Nice work on the background as always, OA. I'm not entirely sure what to make of
the scan quite yet, but I'm thinking about it. Generally... I like it. Very
different from your usual entries, and I love a good wall that doesn't rely on
grunge. Nice work!
Is everybody making Ugetsu Hakua Wallies
now? It's so weird, literally the week after I stumble across a boatload of
Hakua-san arts, wallies start crawling out of the woodworks. :3
Well. I like the wall quite a bit--it's very well made. The hexagons remind me
of .hack, inevitably, but what can you do, eh? Nice work with the shapes, etc...
Frankly, the only reason I wouldn't use it myself is that I hate the color
pink...
You made this? Wow, you did a really excellent job. I don't really have the time
right now, but just passing a cursory glance over the others.... I have to say,
I'm very impressed. Great work!
Very nicely done, Brommy. I always like your wallpapers that aren't grungy, you
should do more
xd
i dun really have anything to complain about here except... the credits are a
bit too large. If you downsized 'em a bit, it'd be nice, but then, I guess it's
more easily ripped that way... But it's really good! Adding to favs,
Kefka and Gogo; well, that is certainly one bizarre bazaar, the two strangest
characters from any Final Fantasy ever, in my own opinion. I'm glad you managed
to get your hands on this though, because it's much larger than any other Kefka
scans I've managed to find--and as far as Gogo scans go... you can forget it.
Thanks so much for posting this, and all the rest as well. I hope I might be
able to do something with them, sometime...
Great work with the textures and colors. I don't know how you were able to put
so much color into the original scan, but it really works well. I don't know
what else to say... just really nice job. +fav.
Verry nice. I love the work you did on the characters, and the view through the
window is gorgeous. The color scheme is excellent, and... well, it's a nearly
perfect wallpaper. There's only one nitpicky detail I can complain about, and
that's the candle--the style doesn't match the rest of the art very well. Maybe
filtering it a little would have helped a bit, but otherwise, it's an incredible
wall.
Well, the first thing I thought when I saw it was... well... blue. It's very
blue... it gives it an... almost underwater feel. Which actually suits the crack
brushes (I'm guessing you used brushes for those..) quite well--it gives the
feeling of a sunken stone statue, or something. I think the only things I'm not
too fond of here are, first, the font... I dunno why, but it just doesn't seem
to go with the rest of it, too much. The second thing is the "photos."
The first problem with the photos is that they aren't in perspective. It can be
difficult to do that, sometimes, but it looks really unprofessional if they
aren't. Another problem is that they--or at least some of them--have too much
color. As monochrome as the rest of the wall is, it distracts a lot of attention
from the focus.
Other than those two areas, it's a pretty good wallie. Nice work, brom-kun.
Hmmm... I think some gradient work would have been nice, but if you did this in photoshop, then it would've been hard, ne? In any case, a nice vector, hm?
Hmm... hmm... hmmm...
Hm.
I can do something with this.
EDIT: Stupid laggy connection. ><
Perspective feels weird, but it's a nice wallpaper. Bit of a jarring juxtaposition, too, but that's a good thing.
But do you have an absolute definitive favorite from this artbook? XP
Hi, Bren.
...an even bigger version of this one, eh? I've considered walling this a couple of times, never really found the right... impetus, I guess.
Very interesting, very skilfully executed vector. I like it. Think it'd look a bit better in monochrome, but that's just an opinion.
I actually don't find the materia to be all that out of place, once you realize that they're materia, anyway. Very interesting piece for a first grunge, and very excellently done. Very nice work, very simple... I love it. You really are excellent with the Amano art.
God, I love analysis and psychology in wallpapers.
I'm
going to be studying this thing for hours.

Not a bad job, for your first time. Background could be a little more definite, but generally a solid piece. Not a bad extraction, either.
Incidentally, how exactly did you extract this? Eraser, or something else? I might have some tips.
Nice work on the background as always, OA. I'm not entirely sure what to make of the scan quite yet, but I'm thinking about it. Generally... I like it. Very different from your usual entries, and I love a good wall that doesn't rely on grunge. Nice work!

Excellent artwork, indeed. Nice find. Hope you can find some more scans from this game, I'll be looking forward to it.
