I'm not bad at writing, I'm just having a tough time with this one paper, mostly
because it's so simple, I think. I have to describe the motion of Venus as
described in the Almagest. Which is weird, since we were assigned to do that
right after reading it. A sort of "rewrite in your own words" kind of
thing... which I think is very silly, at this point in my education career.

PS: I do understand how you feel ShueiTenshi. I put a lot of hard work into that
round three and my first round entry - and the "squiggly" lines took
me forever to do. Honestly, nobody got the idea of "kabuki" looking at
it- people will continue to either not accept something different [uncommon art
forms, styles etc].
I can say I'm disappointed too. I'll be thinking twice before I will submit that
wallpaper.

PPS: I think I will be thinking twice before joining any OTHER competition
actually. TREC won't be like that - definitely. All the judges are nice people,
and the rules state that they will read every damn comma, semicolon, letter etc
of the freaking description even if it has poor grammar, or if it is
boring.
It's no wonder why I quit walling. Why the hell did I come
back?
Because there are nice people here...? ^_^;; There's going to be people who you
don't agree with in any community, that's just a fact of life. You can ignore
those people pretty easily, though.

Alright, from the perspective of somebody who's had to live with this guy for nearly eighteen years...
The way I read it, he's being serious and not at the same time. He's got a
tendency to do that. Essentially, he's very melodramatic, and it tends to show
in a lot of the things he does. This is what he sounds like when he tries to be
official. XP
Don't suppose it's okay to join more for the reason of having my wallpapers torn
apart than for the reason of tearing others' apart? ^^;
I'm gonna go ahead and apply like both of the others: by submitting critiques of
my own work. Sorry, Ge, I'm just not mean like you are.
Positive:
Excellent work, Ge. Just going back and forth between this and you're first
entry ever, it's incredible just how much you're sense of how to use your tools
has improved. The edit of the two vectors is admirable, and the simple execution
is very good. I'd agree with kuroimisa in that it really seems a bit too dark at
the left, though I appreciate the simple effect that that lends to the rest of
the wallpaper.
Artistry: The use of black and red is an excellent motif throughout your
Antagony series, and the monochromatism is lovely. The simple moon, contrasted
with the extremely complex text, creates an excellent image. The feeling of
"Antagony" is perfectly conveyed through the agreement of color,
style, and low light.
I'm not entirely sure what a virtually invisible Spike has to do with anything,
but nice technical skill working him in so naturally. When
I first saw him, I thought he was just gradations in Vicious's clothes colors...
and the incorporation of the outline of Vicious's coat and Spike's hair into one
thing is a nice touch.
Negative:
UGH. This is simply a godawful wallpaper. I can appreciate that there weren't
many .hack//Tasogare no Udewa Densetsu wallpapers at the time, but the effort
expended here was simply poor. The circular gradient for Zelfi, the inverted
Balmung and Kamui in the background, the poorly extracted and poor-looking
characters in the foreground, being covered up, in part, by Zelfi... nothing
matches, nothing has any unity. It's simply a bunch of extracted scans slapped
together and called a wallpaper. How this ever made it on MT is beyond me
entirely.
